The new lab showcases VERSES’ contextual computing solutions and supports the development of advanced AI technologies
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sept. 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VERSES Technologies Inc. (NEO:VERS) (“VERSES” or the “Company”), a provider of contextual computing platforms focused on the next generation of artificial intelligence Solutions, today announced the opening of its sensor fusion laboratory and research facility in Culver City, California. The new lab showcases VERSES’ technology portfolio, including COSM™, the company’s flagship artificial intelligence operating system. The lab also provides VERSES’ data science and product development teams with an immersive space to develop and bring to market solutions based on sensor fusion research techniques.
Sensor fusion — the process of integrating multiple data sources from different sensors to create a more consistent, accurate, and useful understanding of objects and their surroundings — is key to allowing AI to better understand the context of a real-world environment and optimize activities accordingly. Often cited in the context of the future of autonomous vehicles, sensor fusion has myriad use cases across a variety of industries, particularly sectors where inferences and decisions need to be made based on real-time sensor data, such as: B. entertainment, security, warehousing, manufacturing and supply chains. As sensor fusion is required in some form in all of these use cases, it is not only appropriate but increasingly necessary for both technical and strategic applications of technology in the modern economy, beyond smart cities, smart healthcare, air navigation and robotics. to the long-established core sectors of the global economy.
“Today, autonomous vehicles use sensor fusion in the form of radar, lidar and cameras to model real-time scenes of their surroundings to safely navigate the streets around them,” said Gabriel Rene, Founder and CEO of VERSES. “With our COSM operating system, we can apply the same sensor fusion techniques and capabilities to areas such as warehouses, manufacturing plants, shipping ports, mines, and retail environments to further enable automation and AI-driven applications.”
At this new facility, customers, partners and investors will be able to experience VERSES research across a variety of disciplines, including interaction with 3D digital twins, mixed reality warehouse picking using Microsoft Hololens, and autonomous drone solutions for regulatory compliance. As one of VERSES’ first partners in this capacity, Nalantis NV worked on the co-development of a drone-centric, interoperable semantic regulatory framework based on the COSM operating system for operators, drones and government agencies. In addition, this work will map the geospatial digital infrastructure for autonomous drones to operate within.
“Honestly, the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues at the VERSES Sensor Fusion Research Facility and demonstrate how this technology is shaping the future of urban air mobility is exciting,” said Stephen Lernout, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Nalantis. “We look forward to continuing to work together to advance our vision of becoming a leader in natural language understanding.”
The VERSES Artificial Intelligence Lab and Sensor Fusion Research Facility is located in the Hayden Tract neighborhood of Culver City, California, home to several technology and creative companies.
