Top new spots opening soon in Abu Dhabi, from Sticky Rice to Pixoul Gaming

Although there are only three months left in the year, there is plenty to look forward to as a number of openings are on the horizon.

The capital has welcomed branches of Din Tai Fung and Barry’s gym at Galleria Al Maryah Island, while Yas Bay Central has opened a dining and entertainment venue with arcade games and bowling, among other restaurants and facilities.

Whether it’s a casual restaurant, a gaming hub, or even a new cinema space, here’s what to look forward to ahead of next year.

Hello Beirut

The popular Lebanese restaurant will open its first outpost in the capital on Al Najda Street in an area of ​​603 square meters spread over two floors with a capacity for 190 guests. This is the brand’s fourth location in the United Arab Emirates after stores in Dubai’s Hessa Street, City Walk and Al Warqa City Mall. Dubai Restaurant has garnered quite a following since it popped up on Hessa Street. The restaurant offers a taste of Beirut in a relaxed atmosphere and is famous for its shawarmas, hummus and grills.

Saudi Arabia’s popular Al Baik fried chicken brand is coming to the capital. The opening at Al Wahda Mall is the fifth store in the United Arab Emirates after stores in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. In addition to the fried chicken, expect dishes like jumbo shrimp, fish fillet, and falafel. It is expected to be Al Baik’s largest branch with an area of ​​883 square meters.

BB Social Dining

The acclaimed Asian restaurant will open later this year in Rosewood Abu Dhabi on Al Maryah Island. BB is the brainchild of Alex Stumpf, the chef behind Peyote in Dubai. The restaurant is known for forgoing the traditional menu format and categorizing dishes according to the four Bs – Baos, Bowls, Barbecue and Bites.

Expect dishes like chicken bang bang (a steamed and toasted bun stuffed with crispy chicken and topped with Parmesan cheese), duck ramen, and truffled rib eye. The restaurant was ranked 33rd on the list of Mena’s 50 Best Restaurants.

La Serre Bistro & Boulangerie

The Parisian-style restaurant is opening a branch in Yas Mall after closing its downtown Dubai location in April after nearly a decade. This comes in tandem with the outlet’s expansion plans, with new branches for Jumeirah, Dubai Design District and Mall of the Emirates. Since then, La Serre has become known as a breakfast spot, but also as a popular bistro, boulangerie and fine dining restaurant.

The menu is billed as French-Mediterranean, but includes a larger selection of more southern-inspired dishes. Expect dishes like butternut risotto with parmesan cream; fried salmon, pilaf rice with almonds and butter sauce; and rack of lamb cooked in sous vide, served with green mushy peas and celery couscous, almonds and dried fruit.

Sticky Rice

The family-run Thai restaurant plans to open at Yas Mall. Located in Jumeirah Village Circle, this popular eatery is a favorite with Dubai residents and offers a taste of authentic Thai cuisine. There is a regular menu as well as a special one for vegans. Dishes you can expect include seafood soup, chicken dumplings, Thai green curry, and mango and sticky rice ice cream.

Pixoul gaming

Pixoul Gaming, a massive esports and virtual reality gaming complex at Al Qana in Abu Dhabi, is nearing completion. It will be located along the 2.4km waterfront and will aim to attract players to the capital by offering something for everyone. Casual gamers can play consoles, while more serious amateur gamers can enroll in the certified Esports Academy, a first in the region, or enjoy the broadcast studio where they can stream live using the latest technology.

Snow Abu Dhabi

The much-anticipated snowpark at Abu Dhabi’s new Reem Mall may be about to open. Reem Mall’s latest Instagram post shows a nearly completed Snow Abu Dhabi. When it opens it will be the largest indoor snow park in the world. Expect two giant slides called the Ice and Floes Toboggan Race and Grauppel’s Summit Escape, as well as rides like The Entry Plaza, Flight of the Snowy Owl, Magic Carpet, Polar Express Train, Crystal Carousel, and more. There will also be dining options including The Lodge Restaurant, Grotto Amphitheatre, Ice Cafe, Party Room and VIP Room.
