DAYTON, Ohio, September 22, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Tangram Flex, Inc announces that it has been selected by SpaceWERX for a Phase I STTR of $250,000 to investigate how its Tangram Pro™ product could enable In-Space Service Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM) capabilities required by the Department of the Air Force (DAF) and the United States Space Force (USSF) as part of the Orbital Prime program are examined.
Under that effort, Tangram Flex and the University of Southern California The Information Sciences Institute (ISI) is working together to ensure the US Space Force and commercial companies can quickly, securely, and with confidence update in-orbit software components so the system works as intended and is cyber-secure.

Orbital Prime was created to accelerate the commercial ISAM market toward an Active Debris Remediation use case. The Air Force Research Laboratory and SpaceWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience with a faster proposal to allocate deadlines and changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities for small businesses and eliminating bureaucratic overhead by continuously implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering the SBIR/STTR program “The Open Topic” in 2018, expanding the range of DAF-funded innovations now ongoing August 25, 2022 Tangram Flex will continue its journey to create and deliver innovative capabilities that strengthen national defenses the United States of America.
