Verse Gaming, an innovative new platform that enables users to compete in peer-2-peer fantasy sports and entertainment, announced today that it has raised $585,000 in pre-seed funding , funded by private investors with participation from Rally Cry Ventures. This funding round has allowed the startup to further develop its platform after a strong year of beta testing and secure regulated access to US markets.
In addition to announcing its pre-seed funding, Verse today also announced the launch of its long-awaited mobile application. Downloadable in all 50 states, users across the country can enter free-2-play competitions and make predictions on player performance, fantasy points, and season stats. In addition, fee-based competitions will be rolled out in 22 markets.
As a pioneer in social gaming, Verse offers players a customizable toolkit to create, play and manage real money contests with profiles reminiscent of their favorite social media apps. Users compete in competitions with two or more player performance prediction tips. The games can be public, which all users can participate in, or they can be restricted to private competitions, which can be waited for by invitation only.
Verse Fantasy Contests offer users an unprecedented amount of customization – giving users control over their contest title, player pool, scoring system, number of picks, and more. Verse Fantasy also offers unmatched customization at choice, allowing users to create lineups mixed with projections of player stats and fantasy scores for almost any player, suitable for any game.
This funding round helped Verse leverage the success of its beta testing – which saw nearly a thousand testers participate in over 11,000 contests and generated $120,000 in in-app credit transaction volume – to bring users a vibrant, social fantasy sports experience to offer.
