Singapore’s 15 fastest-growing jobs for 2023, according to LinkedIn

Jobs helping companies digitize and thrive amid a booming economy in Singapore, according to LinkedIn.

Its latest employment data shows an increase in the hiring of growth professionals, technologists and healthcare professionals in Asia, among others, which is expected to expand well by 2023.

Researchers from LinkedIn looked at jobs from January 2018 to July 2022 to calculate the growth rate for each job title in a specific country.

LinkedIn says rental rates in Asia-Pacific remain high despite fears of recession

LinkedIn added that for jobs to be ranked, job titles need to see steady growth on the platform over the last five years, as well as “grow to meaningful size” by 2022.

Workers can use this list to determine their next shift in their careers and “prepare for the world of the future,” it added.

Job Trends in Singapore

The LinkedIn report found that the proportion of paid job postings offering long-distance employment options fell from 7.8% in December 2021 to 4.1% in the same period last year.

Guy Berger, its chief economist, said in another report last year that the economic climate was causing some companies to “pull back the flexibility” introduced during the pandemic.

However, what is growing is technical or engineering roles such as cloud engineers, cyber security engineers, backend developers and artificial intelligence engineers.

The growth of AI, the increasing focus on cyber security, and the continued shift towards digital are leading to advances in technical work.

Pooja Chhabria, a professional expert and editor-in-chief for Asia-Pacific at LinkedIn, said: “The growth of AI, the growing focus on cyber security and the continued shift towards digital Progress of technical work “.

She added that it was also “unexpected” for Singapore’s tech jobs to manage the list, adding that the country was building a strong presence as a start-up destination.

“From a geographical point of view, Singapore is a good base for tech companies looking to enter the Southeast Asian and other APAC markets.”

Demand for technology staff remains strong

However, a wave of tech layoffs was reported in Southeast Asia last year amid difficult macroeconomic conditions, including Indonesia’s GoTo Group, Singapore’s Sea Group and Singapore’s Carousell.

Chhabria remains optimistic, saying this will be a turning point for the tech industry and could “return to a more normal level of work”.

“The total demand for workers remains strong with workers moving to other jobs,” she added. More in and across the industry.

“Technology jobs not only serve the technology sector, but also the needs of other sectors as they continue to invest in digital transformation.”

What will happen to the tech workforce in 2023?

Like India, jobs focused on business growth and new customer acquisition are also on the rise, LinkedIn said.

Such work – which Chhabria says helps “companies do more with less” in times of economic uncertainty – includes development, sales, business development and demand generation.
