Remote control and cutting down of wastage: How these smart washing machines save you time and money

When working from home was still a thing and you could do your laundry any time of the day — aside from those Zoom calls — you didn’t have to think too much about your devices. Now that more and more people are returning to the office and commuting to work, there is less time to do mundane but necessary tasks at home.

Then arm yourself with tools and gadgets to help you get the job done for you—better and smarter. For those looking for convenience and more efficient technologies that can clean their clothes better, Toshiba’s new T-series of energy-efficient washing machines and dryers are specially designed to lighten the load of your household chores.

To celebrate the launch of its new product range, Toshiba held a launch event themed “The Pursuit of Mastery” on August 30th at Andaz Singapore. The theme expresses the brand’s Takumi spirit, a philosophy that upholds the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Guests of honor at the launch event included Ms. Low Yen Ling, Secretary of State for Commerce and Industry; Mr. Li Wenguang, First Secretary, and Mr. Wang Ziyun, Second Secretary, from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, Toshiba also donated washing machines, air purifiers and electric kettles to four Social Service Agencies (SSAs) in the South West District.

Here’s how T-Series technologies help keep clothes cleaner while saving time and energy.

Reduce waste while cleaning efficiently

Do you often have trouble finding just the right amount of detergent and fabric softener for the laundry?

A general rule of thumb is to use a capful of detergent liquid, but this also depends on not overloading the machine or if the clothes are particularly sweaty or soiled.

Clothes need to be thoroughly clean, but too much detergent leaves stain residue and can also damage your clothes or irritate your skin while wearing them. If the clothes are still soapy, they may need to be washed again, resulting in more wasted water and electricity.

This is where Toshiba’s SenseDose comes into play. It is a precise automatic detergent dosing technology in the T series washing machines, which can sense the weight of the clothes loaded in the machine and identify the type of materials.

The washing machine then dispenses a precise amount of detergent from the detergent supply to ensure clothes are cleaned without wasting detergent, water and electricity.

Models with SenseDose include:

  • T15 TWD-BM105GF4S (9.5/7kg) for $1,399
  • T15 TWD-BM115GF4S (10.5/7kg) for $1,599
  • T15 TWD-BM135GF4S (12.5/8kg) for $1,899
  • T20 TWD-BL160D4S(MG) (upper drum 5 kg) (lower drum 10/7 kg) for $2,999

Save time with just a push of a button

If only the chores would get done, but since they simply grow when left unattended, there is at least a way to minimize the time spent on them.

Some Toshiba T-Series washing machines feature Ex-Dot technology, a mechanical dosing system that allows the user to add up to one liter of detergent and fabric softener to the detergent reservoir.

The Ex-dot can then dispense a specific amount of liquid at the touch of a button, eliminating the need to add detergent and fabric softener with each new load of laundry.

Ex-point models include the T16 AW-DUM1100JS (10 kg) for $899; and T16 AW-DUM1300KS (12kg) for $1,069.

Save even more time on household chores with the TSmartLife mobile app. Using the app, users can easily control that the washing machine is started remotely, for example when they are driving home from work.

T-SmartLife works with the following models:

  • T15 TWD-BM105GF4S (9.5/7kg) for $1,399
  • T15 TWD-BM115GF4S (10.5/7kg) for $1,599

Thorough deep cleaning to remove stubborn stains and residues

Sometimes there may still be residual stains on clothing that cannot be removed with a standard wash. Ultra-Fine Bubbles technology in Toshiba’s T-Series washing machines applies high water pressure that bursts a billion nano-sized bubbles, 200 times smaller than the gaps in clothing fibers, to remove sebum dirt and provide a more even, achieve a more thorough wash of your laundry.

Models with this technology include:

  • T15 TWD-BM105GF4S (9.5/7kg) for $1,399
  • T15 TWD-BM115GF4S (10.5/7kg) for $1,599
  • T15 TWD-BM135GF4S (12.5/8kg) for $1,899
  • T16 AW-DUM1100JS (10kg) for $899
  • T16 AW-DUM1300KS (12kg) for $1,069

Better protection for clothes with greater energy savings

The color of the clothes can sometimes fade after numerous washes. Toshiba’s The Greatwaves Cold Water color care wash technology aims to protect against this by using a high-velocity water flow that thoroughly dissolves dirt and filters out dirt without staining clothes.

In addition, the washing machines are equipped with an Origin inverter motor, one of the quietest on the market, which spins the washing machine at a high speed of 1,400 rpm. This allows clothes to be cleaned in cold water and reduces damage to the fabric fibers.

Despite the powerful motor, the washing machine does not consume much energy and even saves more energy compared to universal motors. Toshiba also grants a 12-year warranty on the motor.

The Greatwaves and Origin Inverters are available in the following models:

  • T15 TWD-BM105GF4S (9.5/7kg) for $1,399
  • T15 TWD-BM115GF4S (10.5/7kg) for $1,599
  • T15 TWD-BM135GF4S (12.5/8kg) for $1,899
  • T16 AW-DUM1100JS (10kg) for $899
  • T16 AW-DUM1300KS (12kg) for $1,069
  • T20 TWD-BL160D4S(MG) (upper drum 5 kg) (lower drum 10/7 kg) for $2,999

Dry and refresh

Hanging and waiting for clothes to dry is another task that can be made easier with Toshiba’s heat pump dryers.

Equipped with heat pump technology, the dryers operate at a moderate temperature to gently dry clothes, while built-in sensors optimize drying temperature and time to reduce heat damage and energy consumption.

There’s also a UV disinfection function, which uses ultraviolet light to eliminate bacteria, and an anti-wrinkle function, which keeps the drum rotating every 10 minutes even after the cycle is complete to prevent wrinkles.

Users can also control the dryer with the TSmartlife app. Based on the selected wash mode, the drying cycle is set automatically, saving you time programming the dryer.

Toshiba dryer models are:

  • TD-BK100GHS (9 kg) heat pump dryer for $1,599
  • TD-BK100GHS(WW) (9kg) Heat Pump Dryer (White) for $1,599
  • TD-BK110GHS (10kg) heat pump dryer for $1,799
