Oklahoma State Cowboys’ Spencer Sanders Marks Texas Longhorns’ First Test Against Mobile Big QBs

How do you stop Spencer Sanders? It’s a question Steve Sarkisian will need to answer Saturday if Texas hopes to win at Stillwater.

Sanders, the dual threat passer for Oklahoma State, has had his fair share of fun against Texas over the years. In 2020, he threw for 400 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-34 overtime loss. A year later, Sanders bullied his way through the Longhorns’ defense, rushing for 198 total yards and scoring two touchdowns to complete the 32-24 comeback.

A player does not define the status of a team. Sanders could be the anomaly of the rule after his four-year run as the Cowboys’ No. 11 starter (5-1, 2-1 Big 12). And while his status remains in question ahead of Saturday’s homecoming game, Sarkisian and the No. 20 Longhorns (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) are gearing up for him to compete once more at Boone Pickens Stadium.
