Nokia and Mext spearhead digital transformation of Turkey’s industrial sector


Singaporean telecoms company Singtel is working with Intel to establish a 5G Multi-Access Edge Compute (MEC) incubator designed to enable enterprises to seamlessly adopt 5G, deploy applications that require low-latency processing at the edge, drive innovation and accelerate their digital transformation.

“Singtel’s 5G network and Paragon MEC platform are transforming operations in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, smart logistics, healthcare, retail, transportation and urban planning. Together with Intel, we bring together our best knowledge, expertise, assets and ecosystem to help meet business needs, improve operational efficiencies, unlock new opportunities and thrive in a 5G world,” said Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise and Regional Data Center Business, Singtel.

As part of the collaboration, the incubator of the 4 Xeon scalable processors will provide these 5G enterprise services.

single tel says the collaboration will focus on developing the application and ecosystems to deliver transformative enterprise and consumer use cases such as high definition content delivery, cloud gaming, video analytics, virtual augmented mixed reality and metaverse.

With the partnership, companies can leverage Singtel and Intel’s ecosystem to deploy their 5G use cases, including ready-to-use applications for rapid trials and proof-of-concept research and development. One of the first successful attempts at the platform is a content delivery solution.

According to Singtel, other ongoing trials include a video analytics AI solution in partnership with Axis Communications, a mixed reality usage solution for real-time workplace collaboration with HTC, and a low-power technology developed by Quanta that will enable a more sustainable enterprise MEC platform . Singtel and Intel together welcome solution providers with cutting-edge 5G applications to join the program and incubator for rapid trials and pilots. As more solution providers join the ecosystem, organizations have access to a wider range of skills and solutions to improve their operations.

APPENDIX A – Ecosystem use cases developed in collaboration with Singtel and Intel

1. One of the first solutions tested was an accelerated content delivery solution. Initial trials have shown a significant reduction in video loading time – by up to 46 percent on 5G Edge MEC compared to 4G with public cloud. Customers using Digital Twin technology will benefit from this solution, which enables higher video resolution and increases the accuracy of real-time video analytics for mission-critical use cases. The solution, which is soon to be launched commercially, also enables companies to identify potential use cases in areas such as mixed reality, cloud gaming and metaverse.

2. Video analytics AI solution, Ipsotek’s VISuite AI software converts video data into actionable information to optimize real-time situational awareness and allows users to efficiently manage real-time automatically generated alerts to ensure safety at their increase jobs. Leveraging Singtel’s 5G network and Paragon, Intel Xeon platforms for Edge and Axis Analytics, VISuite AI is capable of detecting vulnerable workers and distinguishing between objects and people, even when they are not wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

3. With HTC’s integrated mixed reality solution and private network, Singtel and Paragon’s 5G network, the companies have developed a 5G real-time mixed reality solution that integrates 5G, virtual reality and 3D visualization . This provides a highly efficient way of collaborating with real-time data streaming, visualization, verification and validation to support various industries for real-time workplace collaboration. HTC also offers private networking solutions powered by Intel FlexRAN.

4. With increasing demand for high-performance computing capabilities from the cloud to the edge, adopting energy-saving technologies is imperative to remain sustainable. Quanta worked with Intel to develop QCT’s liquid cooling solution, which can optimize performance, lower CPU temperature by 11.8°C and improve power savings. It is now being tested at Singtel Edge locations with the goal of enabling a more sustainable enterprise edge computing solution.
