Juniper Research: 5G Fixed Wireless Access to Generate $2.5 Billion Globally in Operator Revenue by 2023; Growing 480% in 12 Months

BASINGSTOKE, England–(BUSINESS WIRE). This staggering growth will be fueled by 5G’s advanced network capabilities, such as: B. Extremely low delay and increased data processing to provide connectivity services previously unattainable with 4G technology.

FWA includes services that provide high-speed Internet connections via cellular-enabled CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) for applications such as broadband and IoT networks.

Operators use 5G FWA to secure return on investment

The study predicts that 5G FWA revenue for operators will reach $24 billion globally by 2027. She identified the consumer market as the sector that generates the highest revenue for operators; which accounts for 96% of global 5G FWA revenue. However, she warns that operators need to offer a compelling proposition for FWA solutions by bundling services like video streaming, gaming and smart home security to enrich the user experience and gain competitive advantages over established high-speed connectivity technologies like FTTP (Fibre-to-the-Property).

Research author Elisha Sudlow-Poole noted: “The benefits of FWA are now comparable to services using fiber-based networks. Operators have an immediate opportunity to generate revenue from broadband subscriptions directly to end users by offering last mile solutions supported by their existing 5G infrastructure.”

5G FWA is to be offered as a last-mile solution

The report also identified private networks as a key opportunity for monetization; offers superior network capabilities over 4G. Smart manufacturing, shipping ports and airports are the key use cases for 5G FWA. The report recommends operators to use 5G FWA to facilitate the last mile solution by treating the relationship between FWA and fiber networks as fully collaborative to maximize network performance and return on investment.
