According to an online survey by Taste Atlas, Indian cuisine is ranked as the fifth best in the world. We would have liked it more if we had the first place, but the fifth isn’t that bad, right?

Ranked according to the audience vote for ingredients, dishes and drinks. Italy took the top spot on the list, followed by Greece, Spain and Japan. Indian cuisine got the fifth spot with a rating of 4.54 and dishes like Garam Masala, Ghee, Malai, Butter Garlic Naan and Keema are mentioned as items one should definitely try.

The list has also given a list of places in India that one can visit to get the best taste. Places like Shree Thaker Bhojanalay (Mumbai), Karavalli (Bangalore), Pokhara (New Delhi), Dum Pukht (New Delhi), Comorin (Gurugram) and 464 others are listed.

The Taste Atlas post may have been viewed over 38.6 million times, but the internet doesn’t seem too happy with the results. While some criticized the list for not including many countries, others simply pointed out that cuisines without authenticity were included in the list as well.
