[Bangkok, Thailand, September 21, 2022] At HUAWEI CONNECT 2022 in Bangkok, Huawei and Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) in Thailand unveiled a global smart education demo site, setting a new benchmark for the digital transformation of universities and colleges worldwide. Present at the unveiling ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mr. Somchai Santiwattanakul, President of Srinakharinwirot University, Vincent Liu, President of Huawei Global Enterprise Network Marketing & Solution Sales Department, and Aaron Wang, Vice President of Huawei APAC Enterprise Business Group.

Huawei and SWU Unveil Global Smart Education Demo Site

The SWU strives to become an “innovative university”. To this end, SWU is comprehensively promoting the expansion of infrastructure and the development of next-generation digital systems. This injects fresh impetus into SWU’s digital innovation and development, and in turn helps nurture talent for the Digital Thailand initiative.

Therefore, SWU strives for a smarter, personalized campus with a high-performance, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage digital campus network. In this way, teachers and students alike can enjoy high-quality data services.

However, SWU’s original ICT systems did not have enough bandwidth. Also, there was no centralized identity authentication and access management. To make matters worse, the wireless network was unstable and didn’t cover all areas. All of this made it difficult for SWU to build security protection systems for a safer campus.

Mr. Somchai Santiwattanakul, President of SWU, said, “Our collaboration with Huawei now enables our students and professors to leverage the latest digital technologies and benefit from new teaching methods for a cutting-edge educational experience. I would like to thank Huawei Thailand for this great opportunity which allows SWU to cement its reputation as an innovative university and a leader in education.”

Vincent Liu, President of Huawei’s Global Enterprise Network Marketing & Solutions Sales Department, added, “Huawei’s intelligent multi-service network solution for higher education is ideal for building a future-proof education and research network for SWU. This new network addresses all of SWU’s complex network needs by offering campus-wide network connectivity, multi-network convergence and high-speed connections, serving more than 30,000 educators and students and paving the way for development over the next 5 to 10 years.”

Huawei’s intelligent multi-service network solution for higher education offers three unique advantages:

• Completely wireless experience: With AirEngine Wi-Fi 6, this solution offers the fully wireless continuous network capability of 200Mbps anytime, anywhere access, enabling anytime, anywhere teaching and learning.

• Intelligent O&M: Huawei’s iMaster NCE enables real-time visibility of the service experience across the network. The VXLAN-based network virtualization solution greatly improves the rollout efficiency of the new service and frees the network O&M staff from tedious network management work.

• One network for multiple purposes: Network virtualization technology provides a multi-purpose network to transport a variety of services such as education, office, Internet access and campus security protection in one network, saving network construction and management costs.

This global smart education demo site sets a new benchmark for building and upgrading ICT infrastructures in universities and colleges, and helps nurture talent for the Digital Thailand Initiative. Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to work with more customers and partners to delve deep into industry scenarios and accelerate digital transformation across industries.
