Hulu is by far one of the top streaming platforms, even if it doesn’t have the same global footprint as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or Disney+. But its wide range of shows has garnered a loyal following.
Hulu doesn’t necessarily make things easy for its users, whether it’s the browser version, mobile app, or smart TV app. Even something as simple as checking the history of previously watched shows can be harder than you might expect when compared to competing platforms.
Here’s how to check your watch history in Hulu on a PC
The fastest way to check your Hulu watch history from a desktop or laptop is from the Hulu home page.
- Sign in to your Hulu.com account.
- Scroll down until you get to the Continue Watching section.
- Click the right arrow to cycle through your list.
Note that only shows you’ve watched but not completed will appear in this list. To access your entire watch history on Hulu, you must submit a ticket or make a request.
Here are the steps.
- Go to the Accounts section.
- Click on the “California Privacy Rights” option.
- Click the Request Report button.
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Submit the request.
The process is not streamlined or intuitive, and many users argue that it causes users to jump through hoops to get more detailed information about their observing history.
However, you must go through it if you want your lifetime watching history, which includes shows that no longer appear in the Continue Watching section.
The full list includes additional information like timestamps to help you better assess your Hulu binging habits.
How to check your watch history in Hulu on mobile
There’s not much of a difference between using Hulu on the browser or the mobile app. The process is pretty simple if you want to see a list of the movies and TV series you’ve watched.
- Sign in to your Hulu account.
- Go to “My Stuff”.
- Choose TV Shows or Movies.
This shows shows you’re watching, how many episodes you haven’t watched, and when the next one will air.
If you want to remove one of these shows, you can tap once on the three-dot icon on the thumbnail and deselect the show from My Stuff.
An alternative way to view your history is the Home tab.
- To home page.”
- Swipe up to scroll down until you see “Continue Watching”.
- Swipe right to move through the list.
If you want to see a more detailed list or can’t swipe left and right, you can tap the See All button above the thumbnails. This action displays all Keep Watching history.
Again, this does not give you an overview of your life activity. The only way to achieve this is to make a request.
How to Check Your Watch History in Hulu on a Firestick
When using the Hulu app on your Amazon Fire TV or Firestick, the user interface may look different than the regular browser or mobile versions of Hulu.
Checking history is very easy.
- Launch the Hulu app on your TV.
- Navigate to the Watch Next tab under the main toolbar.
- Browse the list and make the changes you want.
Every Hulu list and tab is easier to access on a TV because they’re all listed on the main page. You can even go to the Unseen tab in My Stuff to see which movies and shows you’ve queued up but haven’t watched yet.
How to check your watch history in Hulu on a Roku device
Browsing your watch history on Hulu on a Roku device is no different than it is on any other smart TV.
- Launch the Hulu app on your Roku device.
- Go to the “Home” tab.
- Navigate to Observe in the toolbar menu.
A list of movies and shows you’ve watched and haven’t finished will appear. To find a list of all your previously watched shows, you’ll need to submit a request to Hulu for the information.
How to clear your watch history in Hulu
Never mind that sometimes Hulu makes the clock history disappear for no apparent reason. If you want to clear history manually, you can do it by following a few simple steps.
It’s actually easier to delete this information than to get it after submitting a request from Hulu.
- Sign in to your Hulu account.
- Go to “Accounts”.
- Go to California Privacy Rights.
- In the Manage Activities section, select Playback History.
- Click the Clear Selection button.
Why do you want to use this method? Usually, Hulu only allows users to remove shows from the Keep Watching list one by one. This slow process does not delete any data from the account’s lifetime watch history.
Clearing history will perform a full, account-wide wipe and erase all accumulated data from all profiles. It restores account in brand new state with no settings and recommendations everywhere.
The good news is that this is an account-specific option, meaning it’s available in every flavor of Hulu, whether it’s the browser, mobile, or smart TV app interface.
Hulu has a long way to go
On the surface, the Hulu platform looks like a copy of every other streaming service. But if you dig a little deeper, you might find pesky details like missing or incomplete features and a long list of hurdles you have to jump through before you can get anything done.
Finding recent play history is easy on any device. But getting a full view of all your monitoring history and deleting that data from your account is a work in progress.
