The Mobile Passport Control app allows travelers who qualify to submit their passport and travel information through the app and make it available for “future international travel.”

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, after completing the information upon arrival in the U.S. or at a convenient location for pre-clearance, travelers will select their airport or seaport and terminal, take a selfie, and respond to a series of CBP inspections . related questions.

Travelers will then receive an electronic receipt with a QR code that they must show to a CBP officer before entering the United States

“As wait times continue to increase due to increased international travel, the app may be particularly useful for families traveling together, as it allows a single household to file an MPC transaction, including answers to CBP inspection questions,” the app said CBP .

“Additionally, the need for a declaration form is eliminated as travelers can answer CBP inspection questions electronically via their smartphone or tablet before arriving at customs.”

Although it was launched in 2014, travelers through Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport and Montreal Trudeau International Airport are only now able to participate in the program.

The MPC app can currently be used at 31 US international airports, three Canadian preclearance locations and four ports of entry, namely:
