Srinagar: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh chaired a high level joint meeting of officials here at the Kashmir Police Control Room this afternoon to review the overall security scenario of Srinagar and the districts of South Kashmir.
According to Police Spokesman Spl DGP CID, J&K RR Swain, IG CRPF Ops Kashmir, MS Bhatia, IG CRPF Srinagar Ops Sector, Charu Sinha, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, IGP Hqr, B. S Tuti, DIG CKR/SKR Sujit Kumar, SSP Srinagar , Rakesh Balwal and AIG (Training and Policy) JS Johar attended the meeting.
“At the meeting, DGP recognized the joint efforts of J&K police and other security forces in conducting various successful anti-terrorist operations, adding that we need to expand and improve our capabilities to achieve our goals. The DGP stressed the review of the city and South Kashmir’s safety net plans, saying that we must continue to deal severely with elements that mislead our youth and push them into terrorism. He directed officers to strengthen area control and night patrols in gray areas. The DGP stressed placing the surprise nakas and ambushes to verify any suspicious movement. He directed the use of modern equipment, including drones and CCTVs, for area domination,” the spokesman said.
“The DGP emphasized identifying the gaps, if any, to achieve the desired outcomes. He instructed court officials to ensure regular surveillance of the nakas and operations. The DGP ordered the joint district-level security meeting to be held to implement the strategies. He also stressed taking preventive measures to restrict the movement of anti-peace elements,” he said.
The spokesman continued: “He ordered the forces to keep up the pressure on anti-nation elements so that terrorist groups don’t get a chance to revive. The DGP urged officers to devise strategies to further consolidate peace in Jammu Kashmir, adding that in doing so, the armed forces must ensure that civilians do not suffer any inconvenience. The DGP stressed remaining more vigilant against terror support networks that help terrorists to carry out their nefarious plans and ordered utmost efforts to ensure a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.”
“During the meeting, a flimsy discussion took place about the terror crimes in the valley, and officials present at the meeting made suggestions on anti-terrorist operations and further strengthening peace in J&K,” he said.
“DIG CKR informed DGP of Srinagar City as well as South Kashmir districts for effective surveillance of anti-peace elements DGP through PowerPoint presentation,” he added.
